loving God and loving others

Published by YAvillage.com under Uncategorized

which directionAccording to Jesus, loving God and loving others are the greatest commandments (Matthew 22:37-40). Getting involved in a small group is one of the best ways to follow those commandments. Small groups make it possible to build relationships while studying the Bible–helping each other to grow in our faith while building lasting friendships with others who can encourage us to live for Christ. There is no way for me to explain this fully. You just have to experience this for yourself.

Schedules can be hectic, making it difficult to get together. But, we can do groups at any time or place that might work for you–lunch time, between classes, at school, at Calvary, at Starbucks, etc. In order to create the groups we need, I need your help. Please take this short survey. It’s just eight questions. If you have any questions, as always, please email, Facebook or call (302-632-0637).

Convoy of Hope–Putting your Faith to Work

Published by YAvillage.com under Uncategorized

convoy of hope logoOne of the reasons so many people never go forward in their faith is that they never put their faith into action. The three values we talk about are Connect-Grow-Serve. This opportunity will change the lives of those you serve and your own life.

Convoy of Hope is a multi-church, one-day, special community event designed to meet both physical and spiritual needs of impoverished families. On average Convoy of Hope partners with 1,000 local volunteers to serve around 10,000 guests. Outreaches give hope by providing 80,000 pounds of groceries, health and dental screenings, free haircuts, games and activities for children of all ages.

The main event is on Saturday. Some of us plan on going a few days early to help setup, get the word out and prep everything. I need people who want to come early and people who are coming for Saturday only.

For more information email me or sign up for more information and we’ll call or email you with information when we have it.

Olympic Festival

olympic rings

Many of you may not realize it, but I am competing in the Olympics this year. After much training and discipline, I am ready for the challenge of international competition. As part of my participation, I am allowed to bring guests. If you would like to join me at the competition on Saturday, August 16, I have space available.

Since I am actually competing in the Wii Olympics, all events will be held at my house. And, of course, we’re inviting everyone to join in the competition–not just watch.

After preliminary warm-ups, we’ll compete to see who the greatest Olympian is. Games will begin promptly at 8:00pm. I’ll be providing nachos, so feel free to bring soda, Gatorade, snacks of desserts.

Of course, if you prefer, you can just watch badminton, cycling, fencing, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, ping-pong, tennis, track & field, weightlifting and wrestling–or whatever they broadcast from the schedule that day.

Email me or call/text (302-632-0637) for more information or directions. I live right off of State Street near Moores Lake-about a mile from Calvary.
